Doubleday field, named for Abner Doubleday, officially opened on September 6, 1920. Abner Doubleday is thought by many to have originated the game of baseball.

Since an unofficial all-start game was played after the 1939 induction ceremonies at the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Doubleday field has hosted the popular Hall of Fame Game, beginning in 1940.

Besides the Hall of Fame game, the field hosts many games throughout the summer. As many as 3 games a day can be played here, 7 days a week. It costs $300 to have a game here, and reservations are taken on a first come, first served basis. Call the Village Clerk's office at 607-547-2411 for details.
